Finalists in Independent Publisher Awards 2019

Hurst Media Nominated In Three Categories

The Professional Publishing Association has nominated Hurst Media Company in the Independent Publisher Awards for the second year running. This year sees Hurst Media is a finalist in three categories: Independent Publishing Company of the Year, Commercial Partnership of the Year and Best Team. The Awards celebrate the dynamic creative contribution and entrepreneurial spirit of the finalists, and reward their achievements over the past twelve months.

Hurst Media has demonstrated its dynamism, creativity and entrepreneurialism by departing from its legacy supplement business in favour of publishing innovative, positive content in partnership with media titles, celebrities and influencers that consumers trust. It has tripled its annual news print schedule, averaging six double-paged spreads per week placed within trusted media titles including The Times, Guardian, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Mirror, Metro, Express, London Evening Standard, The Sun and MailOnline.

Three new products are key to Hurst Media’s success this year. Hurst Media’s influencer relations product, Celebrity Endorsements, communicates persuasive brand, product and service reviews via the social media profiles of celebrities and social media influencers. Competitions are now one of Hurst Media’s most compelling and valuable marketing tactics, communicating brands’ value to millions of readers nationwide and adding an average of over 2000 GDPR compliant email addresses of engaged prospective customers to marketing databases. Hurst Media’s new Checklists product places brands’ short-form advice and recommendations into theme-relevant double-page spreads published within the features pages of national newspapers.

James Hurst, publisher and managing director of Hurst Media said, “Hurst continues to provide branded content, advertorial and independent media planning and buying as well as publishing its flagship consumer lifestyle title, Celebrity Secrets, which is distributed to nearly one million readers nationwide in partnership with OK! Magazine. However this year, we have defined and are developing “trusted media” – a new strategy, category and product line for media buyers and content producers. Trusted media includes the on and offline platforms used by national news brands, celebrities, influencers and household names – the media that consumers most rely on for facts and advice. Hurst Media’s mission is to be the UK’s trusted media partner. In pursuit of this mission it has already secured partnerships with ESI Media, Guardian Media Group, Mail Metro Media, News UK, Reach, Telegraph Media Group, as well as 30 celebrities, including: Danielle Lloyd, Charlotte Dawson and Luisa Zissmen.

News UK’s Group Head – Commercial,  Terry Heath, said, “Since working with the Hurst Media team we have seen a significant increase in business based on the back of their professionalism, understanding of our brands and an understanding of their clients and how those clients can offer services to benefit our readers. As a trusted media owner we are very careful with whom we partner and trust to represent us and James and his team have never given us a reason to doubt their ability to be a professional extension of News UK.”
